Welcome back to Japan!!

I am happy to be able to welcome people from all over the world to Japan.

Welcome back to Japan!
Japan has resumed accepting tourists from overseas, including
individual travelers.
Here, we will show you the most important points that you should know
when traveling to Japan and how to enjoy Niigata.
*To explain briefly about restrictions and regulations, we will only
cover the main points as of November 1, 2022. Please refer to the link
for the most accurate and up-to-date information. (English only)

Entry criteria

Restrictions on tourist entry into Japan have returned to pre-pandemic
levels in many countries. Individual travelers from many countries are
free to enter the country for tourism if they meet requirements such
as proof of vaccination or proof of a negative test prior to
traveling.
Check out the link for more information on requirements. *English only

We recommend using Visit Japan Web and the Fast Track service.

Visit Japan Web is a convenient service for registering your
immigration and customs procedure information before entering Japan.
You can pre-register your quarantine information, and use the Fast
Track to save time at major Japanese airports.
Please refer to the link for details.

* Prior to November 1st, an application called My SOS was available
for immigration until November 13th, but from November 1st, the
function has been integrated into the Visit Japan Web.

Insurance is recommended

If a foreign tourist becomes injured or ill while traveling in Japan, the medical expenses may be very expensive.
In order to travel with peace of mind, we recommend that you take out
private medical insurance with sufficient coverage in case of an
emergency.

Should we wear masks?

Masks are not necessary outdoors.
Please wear a mask indoors.
*Depending on the facility and environment, we may ask you to take
different measures, but we ask for your cooperation.。

It takes just about 2 hours by Shinkansen to reach Niigata from Tokyo.
If this is your long-waited Japan trip, why not spending a relaxing time in Niigata with rich nature, rural scenery, snow resorts, and delicious food during your stay in Japan?

Overview of Niigata

Niigata Prefecture is located at the center of the Japan Sea coast, and is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty including coastlines, sprawling mountain ranges designated as national parks, and bountiful rivers feeding into the fertile plains.
As the economic center of Japan shifted to the Pacific side when transportation networks developed, the Sea of Japan side preserved its culture, traditions and original scenery, almost as though sealed inside a time capsule. There is another side of Japan which is overlooked, and it can be found in Niigata.
